What are some of your flashbulb memories?
(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 12:56 am (UTC)(link)A flashbulb memory is a highly detailed, exceptionally vivid 'snapshot' of the moment and circumstances in which a piece of surprising and consequential (or emotionally arousing) news was heard.
Re: What are some of your flashbulb memories?
9/11. I remember watching it all day on TV at school. First started watching it in my business and careers class.
Columbine. I remember coming home from school and watching it. I was mad because my grandma would not let me watch cartoons.
And I got some weird ones.
Like, I remember where I was when I found out Heath Ledger died (eating dinner on campus).
Or when I found out Eddie Guerrero died (my sister woke me up to tell me).
Re: What are some of your flashbulb memories?
Also the entire trip back home before I learned my dad was dead. The entire day, really. I just knew something was terribly wrong that whole car ride, and then I got home to find out that indeed something was terribly wrong.
Re: What are some of your flashbulb memories?
I very vividly remember finding out my grandpa died, and my suicide attempt (which, i guess is in a way a near death experience).
I do have some minor weird ones (like, one from the Colosseum), but a lot of mine do seem to be very linked to high stress or trauma moments.
Re: What are some of your flashbulb memories?
I also remember the first moment I saw my SO like it was yesterday, down to the smell of the old school library... so I guess it's not all stress and trauma at least.
