Is this a house lock or a workplace? I've never seen a house lock that you didn't have to manually lock! (Hence me forgetting to lock my front door a LOT).

Though the lobby door in my apartment building auto locks behind you.

nayrt

In some European countries house doors auto-lock when you close them. Like hotel room doors. It's nice if you aren't forgetful I guess, but I think I prefer just locking the door behind me as I leave.

I'm in the UK and almost houses I've been to auto-lock! The lock wedge is heavy and just falls into place when the door is closed, so you have to keep the key turned to push the door open. Awfully inconvenient when coming back from shopping, but as the most forgetful person on the planet, it's helpful in keeping my house safe.

My apartment locked behind me. Got locked out twice. Once, my sister and I were gonna walk to the farmer's market and I just assumed she had her keys because she had her purse. I just took my wallet and left my keys in my backpack. She forgot to get her keys...

The other time was almost really bad, because my sister was leaving for LA later that afternoon; she was going to leave from campus. I was staying that weekend (having a birthday party there), and went to go to the store for some stuff, including cake mix and bday candles. Left my keys in my backpack again. Luckily I noticed right away and called my sister before she left for home so she came over to let me in!
