Empathy, compassion, competence, and a quick wit.

But also: having passionate interests. I love when someone can hold forth on a topic with genuine enthusiasm. Doesn't matter what the topic is (well...okay, within reason); if it animates you and makes your eyes light up, I'll listen to you talk about it for hours, and probably think you're damn fine by the end of it.
