It's... the plot is not that original? YOI is a beautifully made variation of it, but it's a pretty basic storyline. And ice-skating movies have been coming out for donkey's years.

And besides that, do people at the Hallmark channel even follow anime with any sort of regularity? My guess is if anyone there heard about this show, it was likely in the briefest of passings. Maybe there are some anime fans lurking there, but I just don't see people at that channel being the sort to sit there going, "Hey, let's take this anime plot and make our own version of it!"

And ideas can't be copyrighted anyway. Even if there were some similarities, that still doesn't automatically equate to "ripping off" a story idea.

Very strange controversy all around.
