Strange.

For someone demanding more from the movie, you don't seem terribly invested in Captain America's story. At all. If you seriously don't know why Steve would choose Bucky over the rest of the Avengers, you should probably rewatch The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier, and pay attention to the interactions between Steve and Bucky, and any dialogue where Steve talks about Bucky.

You're right, I wasn't invested in Captain America's story about Bucky because Bucky is boring as fuck, and more than that, it felt like most of the conflicts (all two of them) could have been resolved by sitting down, talking, and making cool-headed decisions as a group. A "civil war" premise for this kind of storyline was so absurd. At least the initial justification of submitting to government control actually made sense and was somewhat interesting, but that basically got thrown out for the painfully simpler plot.

To be fair, The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier are pretty to look at, but not especially emotionally compelling on their own.

The point is, anyone who has seen these movies would not be baffled by Steve's motives in Civil War. You don't have to be moved to tears by a friendship in order to recognize that two people have a friendship.

Right? Steve basically goes into shock when he realizes the Winter soldier was Bucky. And then he allowed him self to get the shit kicked out of him because he would rather die than hurt Bucky in Winter Solider.
