I wonder who does the dusting.

I was going to suggest you take a peek at the Arthur Conan Doyle Collection at the Toronto Reference Library - if I remember correctly they used to have a great mantelpiece with a Persian slipper full of shag and all the other paraphernalia. However I just Googled the collection and it looks like they've pared it back. Probably to make room for more books! Still, it's well worth a visit if you're ever in the neighbourhood.

That looks like the Jeremy Brett Holmes set, is it?

I was wondering if it was the replica in Gillette Castle.

I think I have a picture of me in Holmes' chair somewhere. I believe that is the Sherlock Holmes museum in London.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I was thinking too. I also have a picture of myself in that chair.

No, the Jeremy Brett set was fairly close to the book description and similar in some ways, but the photo is the Sherlock Holmes museum in London:

(scroll down for photos of the interior, they're neat)

I just love that room in and of itself. I'd love to have a Victorian house where I could have a room that was totally 'in the past' looking, with wonderful eccentric clutter.

I always wanted a Victorian room in my house, too. Though actually, what I really want is to have each room seem like you step into a completely different time and place, with completely different decor and everything.

oooooooo I love that idea!

That room always seemed claustrophobic to me. I don't know if it's the dark colors, the cluttered feel, or what. But good luck on your goal!

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it is Victorian era.

the clutter would drive me insane. I need to recreate something a lot more scifi with no actual possessions.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-09 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
I would fill my Persian slipper with jelly beans instead.

+1 excellent plan!

Love this idea :-)
