I definitely agree, as soon as I saw the character design I thought "strong" so when people started describing him as fat I was SO confused.

He actually has the "strong hero type" body you see in animation (he's a triangle) it's just that it's more subtle and actually a bit more realistic then the tiny waists we're used to in cartoony films.

Plus the Rock was apparently really impressed by how close the character design looked to his Grandfather, who was a very strong man.
