When you have kids you're not allowed to put effort into looking nice, or having nice things, or god forbid, not revolving around your kids 24/7/365.

I see all this shit like, "You left your kid with a BABYSITTER?" if the kids under like... 5 or some shit, like the child's going to be traumatized for life because mom and dad went to the movies for three hours.

Or making fun of moms who put in effort to be clean and nice and wear make up by being snarky about how raising kids must be so easy for them if they can spend so much time on how they look. Having kids doesn't mean you need to look like you crawled out of a dumpster every day. Stop using your kids as an excuse to be a slob.

I...don't think I agree with your point, if your point is that people are required to meet your personal standards for grooming regardless of their status as parents

But I agree very much that it's silly to judge parents for getting a sitter, like holy shit. It's actually GOOD for kids for parents to be healthy, well-rounded people with relationships with people in their own peer groups (especially their partner if applicable). It's not healthy to devote your entire existence to a single person, even if it's a kid

Nah, more that don't use your kids as an excuse for not showering/shame other people for being 'dressed up' because how dare they have the time when they have kidssss.

I'm all for being comfy and I don't dress up if I can avoid it.

That's fair.

Man, the people who think that way about parents who leave their kids with a sitter would've hated mine, then! I remember a few times when my sister and I would stay with sitters, or have my grandma take us for a few hours/overnight, because my parents had work functions to go to/worked late, or because they simply wanted to have an evening out, just the two of them.

Somehow, my sister and I turned out just fine. Heck, we especially loved it when we got to stay at our grandma's place, because she was so much fun to be with :D.
