Yeah I think they kind of wanted to make the kids feel closer to the protags by stating they were 11, but they also seemed to forget that there is a huge section of their playerbase who are young adults who have been with the franchise for a long time. For a franchise that has always honoured its older fans, it was really weird that they threw it in so definitely.
