Re: Unpopular / Controversial Opinions

I'm actually speaking from personal experience here so anecdotal evidence, I guess, but I'm not talking about terroist attacks, I'm talking about getting sexually harrassed. And all the times I've had sexual harrassment directed towards me, it was from men clearly belonging to some Middle Eastern and Turkish ethnicity. So I'm much more wary around men from those groups. Have been called racist for it more than once.

Ah...hm. I personally think that's a blurrier situation. I guess it's good to be at least self-aware of your responses. Personally I'd be wary of any man I met on the street if there was nobody else around, though, so it'd kind of be a moot point...

(now I'm trying to figure out how this connects to the post about demonizing men)

Basically, I've seen it portrayed this way: "demonising men" and being generally wary about them is okay because women have all sorts of reasons to be wary of men. But saying you are wary of a certain group of men is not okay, because that's racist, no matter the bad experiences you may have had.

I mean I have never heard of anyone actually saying they think it's ok to demonize men (except maybe really weird fringe radfems whose rabbit holes I've been down out of morbid curiosity). And demonizing a group is really, really different from being wary of them if you meet them on the street.
