England has had three snowflakes land, so has shut down in panic about snow. English people explain your terror of snow, please.

Lol. I moved from a heavily insanely snowy frigid wasteland (Minnesota) to a place that gets minimal snow. They like shut the city down because they got half an inch of snow and it was in the high 20s. Amazing.

My grandmother in Alabama was telling me they got a half an inch of snow and everything closed down.

Lived in Alabama for years, can confirm.

lol. I moved from the Northeast US to the South and laugh every time it snows two inches (about once a year) and the entire city shuts down. Schools are closed for days! I mean, they really don't have the infrastructure here to deal with it, but still the level of panic snow creates is hilarious.

We don't get much snow so don't have the equipment to deal with it. And the wind this week has done a lot of damage. Trains can't run, motorways get shut, everything just stops.

We have a very large population of the elderly. Those three snowflakes? They wiped out two thirds of the population of milton keynes

I feel bad about it, but I still can't stop chuckling over this pic from North Carolina from a few years ago:

Homg, that made me laugh. I mean - it's like some kind of apocalypse movie or something! Where are the aliens with death rays?

*giggles madly*

I live in a place where it snows multiple times every winter and yet people STILL panic whenever we get more than about an inch. I will never understand it.

They fear the snowmen.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-13 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
They should.

My town: Got a foot of snow, roads are still covered in ice and snow, temperature is -15F, nothing is closed.

I hate living here.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-13 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not fear, it's because we don't have a climate, we just have weather. Our weather is unpredictable and we don't know what to prepare for, so we basically don't prepare for anything.

That's why people get sunburnt and heat stroke and there's hosepipe bans when it's hot, then the roads close and people die when it's snowing. We suck at this.
