I have a weird thing about people touching my eyes. I even have trouble touching my own - it took me years to wear mascara, and I won't wear contacts because the idea alone seems squicky. According to my dad, my eye thing came from a bad eye doctor appointment. (Which I do remember. The woman said "one more" and I was relieved, only she actually meant one more round of drops, not one more time in one eye, throwing me off again. Not sure what happened before that.)

I can do makeup, but contacts freak me out too. That's really a terrible way to tell a child what's happening, I'm sorry.

AYRT - Yeah. My guess is she was more saying it to herself and not thinking, but still. Like you said, not a good way to keep a kid in the loop!

I used to be really weird about eyes. That rhyme "cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye" creeped me out so badly.

Until I was in high school and we dissected cow eyes. Somehow, the inside of a actual eye was totally different from how I'd imagined it, and my eye-squick completely disappeared!
