When I was 10-11ish, a game came out on the Mac called The Journeyman Project. It's a Myst-like sci-fi game, and my brother was the one playing it, I watched and enjoyed it a lot!

Two traumas: the first being that at one point, you're on a base on Mars, and after walking into a particular room, a robot comes out of the next room without warning and threatens to kill you. This sounds pretty innocuous, and in retrospect it's a lot goofier than it is scary, but at the time, holy shit, that robot fucked me up.

Second trauma: while still on Mars, you end up in a maze in the mines underground, where there isn't any climate control, so you have to wear an air mask. There is a rockin tune that plays down here. My brother had to go upstairs for some reason while we were in the maze, and he didn't pause the game so that the music would keep playing, but he didn't realize that the air in the mask would run out-- and that it was a completely voiced thing. In short: I listened to a man slowly suffocating. I was petrified.

Games and movies will live with you forever. That second one sounds HORRIBLE.
