Carol is currently CAPTAIN Marvel, but she's the original, and one most connected to the name, Ms Marvel. Of which there have been 4, I think, not including the Skrull imposter. The other two are currently known as She-Thing and Moonstone.

Idk about that, because I wouldn't have known about Carol if I hadn't read Kamala (I don't read a lot of comics but I got into Kamala) but...I do think OP could have figured this out with a quick google.

Not dead, just temporarily amnesiac and mostly depowered. She regained her memories, gained a new set of powers, and left earth for a while, using the name Binary.

What is up with her hair?

There are practically an infinite number of superheroes with "Marvel" in their name. It's basically the best thing about superhero comics. There's no way to keep track of them all without an advanced degree in superhero continuity and publishing history.
