Nintendo Switch

Is anyone actually interested in this?

I sort of am but...eh.

I am once the price drops and even then I'm not buying every peripheral. We're just going to buy the base unit to use as a home console hooked up to the TV, no extra controllers or screens, etc.

You...don't buy those things. That's kind of the point: The base unit IS ALSO the travel unit.

I guess I misunderstood then. I know the trailer makes it seem they all come together but adverts do that all the time. The news articles I've read have prices listed for each component and based on those it would cost upwards of £400 for everything except the good controllers which would add another £60 each. And the trailer definitely made it seem like the good controller was included, so I don't know.

Splatoon 2.

That's it.

Maybe Odyssey, but with the monthly online service .... eh.

Haven't played the original, but I thought a big appeal of Splatoon was the online multiplayer, so are you gonna skip that or?

I'll get it, it's just not immediate because of that, I'll just hope for a bundle in winter with Odyssey.

Personally if I have to pay a monthly fee, i'd rather either pay a flat rate at the beginning of the year.

I'm probably going to buy a new console this year, and Splatoon is pretty much THE reason Nintendo might beat out Xbox.

"monthly online service"

You can have free online service or good online service.

I'd rather pay for good online service.

True, but I can see a lot of parents feeling conned - "Now I have to pay another 10$ a month for you to use it?" and not doing it or just taking it back.

Yeah, but I'm gonna wait until there's more games for it and maybe a price drop.

Man in the past year I've bought a PS4 and a GTX 970. I'm good for now -- and tbh I don't care about Nintendo products that aren't Metroid anyway.

I wanted the NES Classic just to play Metroid. I have an original NES and Metroid but the console died a couple years back and I didn't get Metroid until after that (we found it in my husband's parents' basement with all the games he had as a kid). I only ever played Metroid a couple times as a kid and always wished I could really play. I may buy an emulator just for that.

Yeah, it's honestly one of the best games on the NES IMO. And Super Metroid is even better.

Nah. The fact that they're finally getting rid of region locking is about ten years too late for me to care. I already moved over to PS3 once Sony stopped region locking their stuff and I haven't looked back since.

I am. Only have a couple of launch titles is incredibly common with new consoles, so I'm not sure why everyone's up in arms about this one...more games will come. The new Zelda will tide me over in the meantime, 'cause holy shit that looks good.

Also saw some new F-Zero coming, new Disgaea (!!), new SMT (!!!!), so I'm happy!

I have the messy Tradition of buying Nintendo consoles at launch. Sony I'll wait a couple years on, but... well... Tradition! But at least this time Tradition involves a breathtakingly beautiful-looking Zelda game, and the post-launch line up looks pretty snazzy.

I need to figure out if I want to DQXI on Switch or PS4. This an serious problem, guys.

I am!

(Anonymous) 2017-01-14 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yes yes yes. But sadly I have no money for it. :(

Re: Nintendo Switch

(Anonymous) 2017-01-14 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm interested but not in a "I'll buy this at launch/right away" sort of way. Zelda is still going to be on the Wii U, and since I have a wii u and that's the main game I'm looking to play, I won't be buying a switch for that.

Pokemon Stars may interest me enough to get one but I want to wait until the system has been out a while and has more games and a price drop. I also want to wait and see how people feel about it.

Plus I just FINALLY bought a PS4 at the end of the year since it was on sale and dropped in price in general, so I'm not looking to buy any new systems right this moment.

Do video game stores let you rent consoles and/or games? I'm not much of a gamer and only really interested in the new No More Heroes. I actually bought a Wii because I wanted the first game, and aside from the sequel and the Resident Evil shooters it never got used and now I don't know what to do with an outdated console. Don't want to make that mistake again.

Nope. After the mess of the Wii U, no thanks. My last Nintendo console was a Wii, and I plan on keeping it that way.
