Hate, really? Is it so godawful to hear a pop song for teenage girls saying "societal beauty standards are stupid and you shouldn't hurt yourself to attain them, self-worth is more valuable than being superficial?" Are we better off with the usual fare about being arrogant/fucking/making money?

Yeah. This one doesn't say being beautiful is not important, it insists you're already beautiful and therefore meeting standards. The standards are still there.
