Actually, the Japanese voice acting is usually very good, mostly because they have a longer history in doing it, the job itself has much higher status, and they act against each other in a studio, making the scenesw feel more authentic.

I have nothing against dubs for animation per se (though I'd never watch American ones, seeeing as I'm not American), but Japanese voice actors have skills that are just not as common in the west (and in my country dubs are almost inevitably awful, as it's generally only done for programmes aimed at kids too young too read fast enough, and the opinion seems to ba that they won't notice bad acting).
