To be fair to Aurora, her movie didn't exactly give her a lot of time between being a) a baby and b) whammied with a sleeping curse, but she did have enough personality to react with shock, heartbreak and resignation instead of delight to being told 'actually, you're secretly a princess and you have to leave your entire life up to now behind, tonight, up to and including the young man you just fell in love with'. So, yes, mostly she's in the movie as the object of several quests rather than really a character, but at least she is allowed glimmers of personality and real reactions?

Also, yes, aesthetically that movie is a masterpiece, Aurora included.

I watched the movie before Maleficent came out, not seeing it since early childhood, and man, the fairies were actually the protagonists and heroes of the story. I'm not just saying that, really, they got by far the most screen time and quest time, too.
