Re: For series when an actor died mid-way

It really depends for me. Generally I say kill off the character or have them go away. But if the character is minor enough, recasting is okay. Never CGI for a tv show because that is long-term rather than just for one movie. I can accept CGI for death scenes, though.

I always wonder if it isn't more disrespectful to kill a character when the actor has died irl. I mean, you gotta do what makes the most sense in the story, but I think it'd be a very touchy thing to do.

SA and one more thought, usually when characters seem to be killed off randomly, it's because the actor quit the series, not died. lol

I guess it depends on how you do it. I just want something true to the character and their importance to the show. I don't want important characters just disappearing with no comment. By the same token, no need to make a big deal out of a really minor character. ANd I think death can be done in a way that is respectful to the actor. It is all in how it is done.

Budget on TV shows also isn't nearly high enough to manage a solid, believable CGI stand-in, I think. It's barely working in movies with an astronomically high budget.
