This is how I feel. People are late. It happens. I myself was late for a gathering a week or two ago. But people like my best friend or my mom are consistently 20-40 minutes late. Sometimes even over an hour! And they have no trouble getting to work on time! They will even joke about how they're always late! If you know it's a problem, FIX IT.

I have no problem with people being 5 minutes late but an hour is pretty excessive.

In fairness, though, some people really struggle with punctuality. It's not always pure laziness.

Yeah but he knows he has to do these things. He knows he is always late. He will still refuse to leave on time. He will text me 10 minutes before he would need to leave 'getting in the shower now' and all he was doing beforehand was playing Pokemon.

Yeah, that sounds pretty disrespectful if he does it all the time and knows it bothers you. :/

I have a friend like this, and it's a big factor in why we're not all that close these days. The thing is, I know it's a real problem for him, because he's even late for work most of the time. And not just five minutes late, but like fifteen, twenty, twenty-five minutes late. He and I both do the same job, and it's a job where you can afford to be late from time to time without it being an issue, but he's been late so often that his agency (that gets him work) has started giving him less work. And he acts like they're being jerks.

I remember when I was younger being at a friend's house and their parents were supposed to be leaving to go to a dinner and they were just... sitting around talking.

They were so late the friends even ended up calling asking where they were, they had thankfully left at that point but they were already extremely late at that point and still hadn't arrived.

My friend just felt embarrassed and I didn't blame her, they literally weren't doing anything that would cause them to be late, they just didn't care.

I just always remember that because it felt like the first time I was really witnessing people who are habitually late and there really just was no reason for it at all.

Yeah that sounds like my entire life. I am surrounded by severely late people and that's actually the main source of my anxiety around being late. I will sometimes be a half hour or more early for things and just sit in my car hoping no one sees me.
