Well...no, it's very straightforward.

But I'm not really sure what that has to do with people thinking a white female character is racist for arguing with non-white characters, unless you're saying the movie isn't deep enough to be racist.

That interpretation requires reading subtext onto those conflicts that the movie isn't written to handle. Those conflicts don't happen because the characters are played by POC. Those conflicts happen because Rogue One is a military thriller. (And in one case, the non-white character is right.)

Now, is it racist (and sexist) for Stafford to argue with Johnson nee Gobel over authorship of technical documentation. Yes, because that's the whole point of those scenes.
