I didn't care for it either.

I really didn't care for it either. And I thought I would, I love HP and I love musicals, so why NOT mix them?

Meh

NAYRT - That might be part of it, though. It's not really a musical about Harry Potter in the sense that it follows the books; AFAIK it mostly just has random songs with random characters. I'd rather watch a musical that followed one of the books, personally. A friend of mine was actually working on one for OoTP.

Although I know adults who liked it, I felt it was mainly for then-younger HP fans. (Although I guess I don't know OP's age.) It also came out when the internet was going through a musical phase (Wicked was big, RENT was big, Sweeney Todd was big), so that helped.

I personally preferred the filks fans would write. I found them way more creative.

It's not for everyone. Personally, I LOVE it.

Definitely not just you. I didn't find it particularly funny, either, and there was something really... gratingly American about it.

Same, I only saw parts of it, couldn't hold my attention.

I fully admit that I hate it but then, I really don't like either musicals or parodies.

I know I'm old but there was something inherently childish about it, it reminded me of 14 year olds at conventions with their "lol randumb" antics. /gets cane, chases people off my lawn

I've seen bits of it that I found entertaining but I've not been able to sit through the whole thing, it just doesn't hold my attention outside of some scenes apparently.

I really wanted to love it, but I have never made it past part 1. Whoever had the idea to film something and put it on youtube, without waiting for the live audience to stop laughing before they spoke, did not think this through. I can hear nothing and it drives me nuts and I just don't have the patience.

Same here, pretty much.

I tried to watch it too but the scene with the Voldemort head just went on way too long and wasn't funny, so I gave up part-way through. Maybe if you were in the audience it was ok, but watching onscreen it was dull.

I started watching for Draco and Voldemort/Quirrel.
