This happened to me many years ago. I lost over 3 megabytes of drawer fic going back to 1993. I don't give those dumb old fics much thought, now, because it's been more than 10 years (and they were dumpster fire level shit). But it did make me a backup freak. My stuff is backed up on a server, various external HDDs, flash drives, as well as MediaFire, GoogleDocks, and DropBox.
