lmfao my friend and I were having this exact conversation tonight.

What I hate is when people place characters on the spectrum. If the canon creator has not stated the character is autistic, then stop labeling every "awkward" or "quirky" character as such. Sometimes a character is just quirky or silly, they don't have to have an "explanation" for it.

NAYRT - I'm of two minds on this one. On the one hand, if you've decided that a certain character is on the spectrum, but don't insist that everyone who doesn't adhere to your headcanon is doing it wrong, then theoretically I've got no problem with that.

On the other hand, I almost always see this done with asshole characters to explain why they're assholes, which strikes me as deeply unfair to the autistic community on multiple fronts.
