On the one hand, I for one am sick of all the damn love songs on all the time.

On the other hand, I enjoy duets for the artistry and the chemistry between singers so get over yourself.

"I dislike something."
"Get over yourself!"

Relax, anon. Nobody is taking your duets away.

Radio's always had duets

I like them because I love harmony. I don't really care about the words.

This. I barely pay attention to words in songs. As long as I like the sound I'm happy.

It's when people say things like this that I realise I have absolutely no idea what's on the radio at the minute, since I rarely listen to it. The first duet I could think of was 'The Confrontation' from Les Miserables, which is more or less the opposite of saccharine.

I don't keep up on the radio these days, but I always liked "Yankee Bayonet". Not sure if that counts as saccharine, since while the two characters love each other, one is dead.

I love this song so much, It's such a beautiful cornerstone in the progression of the characters from 'Valjean's soliloquy' to 'Javert's suicide'...

Sounds like your problem is not with duets but with love songs. Hope that helps.

I would agree but then I remembered how I actually really like those songs where it's like two different perspectives of a dysfunctional relationship.

I like duets, but find most love songs boring as fuck. I don't listen to the radio, but i get being annoyed by stuff seemingly everywhere you turn.

I love duets AND love songs.
I don't much like the version of love that's on the radio these days, though. It's pretty shit.

I actually really love duets, especially when it's with two dudes, and especially when those two dudes have grizzly voices. Oh man, that is gooood.

Oh, come on, you can't say that and not provide some recs! :)

The only time I can think of myself actively hating love songs/duets is during Disney films.

They are consistently, always my least favorite song of the movie.

Not a duet but I can't even watch "Can you feel the love tonight?" I get secondhand embarrassment from that song.

I like duets which are actually written to take advantage of there being 2 singers. Plenty of duets, or even group songs in general, just have the singers singing in turn, or together, and I can't help but think it would sound more or less the same with just one singer.
