I don't think there's anything wrong with being initially interested in someone because they look like someone else you loved. Either you find out they're really nothing like that person and you don't like them, or you end up liking them for themselves once you get to know them, so the way you were initially drawn to them becomes irrelevant.

In Kikyo and Kagome's case though, Kagome is literally her reincarnation, so it's more than just them looking alike. With the Pearl example, they didn't get far enough for it to be a problem. My guess is her looking like Rose means there's going to be a future episode about Pearl having to realize she isn't actually Rose 2.0 (kind of like she is with Steven), but the point of that episode was about Pearl learning to take risks and become open to learning more about humans. If it takes someone reminding you of someone else to get you to do something that's good for you, and it works, that's okay as long as you don't TELL the person what you're thinking.

I don't disagree with you there, but my issue is more with fan response than the show itself in Pearl's case.
