This is why I could never get into Kagome/Inuyasha as a ship, like he would not even have feelings for Kagome if not for Kikyo.

I like them both as individual characters and even like their friendship, but the romance was built in the entirely wrong way and would have worked better if Kagome was more a separate entity from Kikyo.

I also felt really bad for Kikyo personally, she kind of got fucked over.
