hey screw you, i use all lowercase because i'm lazy and capitalization is the least important part of grammar in terms of reading comprehension. >:(

Not the OP, but people not capitalizing generally makes it difficult for me to read things. It's fine when it's just a line or two, but I generally have to reread when it's a paragraph or more with no capitalization. I usually just end up ignoring the posts. If someone's too lazy to capitalize, then I'm too lazy to read what they have to say! Of course, this really only makes a difference for me in debate forums outside of livejournal.

(Your comment was just two above mine, hence my response.)

To be quite frank, I tend not to be particularly interested in reading what someone has to say if they're too lazy to hit one extra key per sentence, sorry.

Also, I agree with the above comment. A sentence or two are fine. An entire paragraph of lowercase? Holy unreadability, Batman.

Here, I'll go to the trouble of shifting for you just to make sure you read this (and for the record, there is often more than one capital letter per sentence, especially if you're speaking in the first person, and I simply find that I type faster if I don't have to stop and reach for the shift key with my feeble little pinky finger).

I honestly don't see what's so unreadable about it, as long as proper punctuation and spelling are present. You can still tell when sentences start and end, where the pauses are, etc. Nothing about pronunciation or meaning is changed, the only difference is how tall a few of the letters are. If you can read the remaining 95% of the sentence without any capital letters, why is the first word (or the pronoun "I") such a big deal?

Much appreciated.

Honestly, I think a lot of it is because it's one of the basic rules of the English language. For me, it's just like seeing a paragraph in which the word "your" is continually used instead of "you're". It may be as perfectly readable as you like, but dear god is it annoying. It's not that much of an effort, really.

And I'm sorry, but uncapitalized paragraphs are still really unreadable to me. I don't know why, but they just are. My eyes just glaze over while I'm reading.

My right shift key just broke, and it's hard to use the left one, so i may be guilty of doing the same for a bit ;-; I don't get why people are so hard on someone's TYPING STYLE of all things, seriously, that's so damn petty.

It's the difference between "I helped my Uncle Jack off his horse" and "i helped my uncle jack off his horse"--the second of course, being furry fantasy.

easily resolved by adding "of."

Re: 53

Or, you know, capitalizing, which is part of grammar.

whoops.

It's not about reading comprehension (at least not for me), but sloppy grammar and punctuation gives a bad impression. When one is reading a post by someone unfamiliar, the text is all one has to go on.
