Then again, Aang has kind of been-there-done-that.And I wouldn't call him a "messiah figure" anyway; the Avatar cycle was inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist Lama tradition. Not exactly Christian, that.I don't know, if anybody is going to die it'll be Iroh, Azula and Ozai, which would neatly clear the path for Zuko becoming Firelord.
Ack! If Nick does this, I'm not sure I'll be able to forgive them. As awesome as Zuko is, he's not ready to be Fire Lord, and ESPECIALLY not at such a critical juncture as the end of a hundred-years war. There's just no way that wouldn't end in national disaster. Iroh is the only character in the whole Avatar canon that could handle a job like that. Zuko can be his successor.
And what do you mean, "inside joke"? EVERYONE has seen Star Wars, right? Right?

I do support Iroh becoming Firelord, but if Aang can be named the Avatar four years early, certainly Zuko can take on such a difficult position as Firelord at 17. Besides, ruling a country would be easy after surviving his own family.
My favorite Star Wars reference in Avatar is in "The Guru", when Guru Patik tells Aang - just like Yoda told Luke - that leaving at that point in his training to save his friends would ruin everything. Awesomesauce.
