They're so insufferable. I can't shake the feeling that they only want that so either they have 'proof' that Luke had straight playboy adventures in space or they want to give him credit for everything Rey accomplishes.

(I don't think she is because they made it clear they took prequel criticism to heart. Too much CGI? Practical effects! Everything looking too shiny and new? Lets rub some mud over everything. Lightsaber fights all flash and no substance? No CGI backflipping Yodas and people zooming around on wires this time! Just two angry apprentices hammering at each-other while the world breaks apart and people's lives hang in the balance.
Everybody being related and knowing each-other makes the universe feel tiny? Ooooh yeah, they're totally going to ignore that one and make sure Finn's Mace's grandson and Rey is Luke's son and BB-8 was built by Kylo Ren as a child and....)

Not to slow your roll, but TFA had more CGI than TPM: http://www.slashfilm.com/force-awakens-visual-effects/

NAYRT - Sure, but TFA also had more practical effects than TPM. Also, all of the effects were integrated better into the film at large. Some of that is due to better technology, but honestly, a lot of it is down to the unfortunate tendency of episodes 1-3 to showcase the effects at the expense of the pacing and the story.
