Nah, it was probably having a joyless, self-righteous sister that did it.

go back to bed, Trey

reddit's missing you, please go back there

Nah, the angry libertarian brigade is just the standard rebellion against the cohort preceding them socially, in this case the new-hippies who emerged at the end of the 1980s and early 1990s. The show is a symptom of rebelling against the kind caring and active kids, to make their own mark, not the cause of the libertarian griefers.

That wasn't it, trust me.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-26 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
nah he probably is just a stoner who thinks he's political

(Anonymous) 2017-01-26 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
My condolences, OP.

So which cartoon manipulated you into having ... whichever political opinion you have today? Since you're so sure that's connected?

(Anonymous) 2017-01-26 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
You seriously don't think the media we consume informs our world-view, and therefore our political stance?? Uh. Okay then what political view do you hold that was infused in you at a genetic level in the womb?

(Anonymous) 2017-01-26 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't answer the question.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-26 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I think media can have a hand, but I highly doubt one cartoon did it for OP's sibling.

Captain Planet, totally, and maybe a bit of Flash Gordon and the Defenders of the Earth on account of the strongly pro-environment girl in it having a really hot catsuit.

I didn't watch many cartoons but I watched MASH as a child and I'm definitely an angry liberal who won't shut the hell up about her opinions so.

to be fair, South Park was a very different show in the beginning

you had no way of knowing it would breed a generation of college libertarian "all sides are badddd" whiners

Your brother is his own person with his own ideas. He doesn't have to think like you. Stop it.

I'm not a Libertarian (I think businesses need to be controlled with shock collars) but I can appreciate how they think. There are far worse political stances. Like, say, Trumperism. All the Libertarians I know hate him and many voted for Hillary against their beliefs in an effort to stop his crazy ass.
