Sometimes I get mad when people are open about their negative emotions, especially sadness, because I think they should just lie and pretend to be happy around other people like the rest of us I do. Its probably mostly jealousy combined with lasting effects of child abuse, but its really unfair of me to think.

Curious about where you grew up. Because as a New Englander who moved South, I so get this. I knew there was the joke about the stereo type of how people from New England have those Puritan roots and they are 'cold' and 'unemotional'. But I didn't realize how much they keep to themselves up North until I moved South. So many emotions to deal with. Why can't you just keep it all to yourselves? Why must you cry at work? What even is that??
