Re: TW transphobic

I guess maybe because you know guys* are going to get a lot of shit for being femm, but girls* won't get as much overt shit? I mean yeah there's a lot of subtle shunning and passive-aggressive crap you can catch for not performing femininity as a cis girl, but you're not as likely to get really aggressive transphobia flung your way.

(using guys and girls for how society is seeing/treating someone, regardless of their real gender)

So there's this thought where a trans woman is putting her life and safety on the line to be herself so she must be really serious, but a trans dude isn't facing as much threat.

Even though, yeah, it's not that simple. I mean my friend's last family contact was three years ago when his mom died after kicking out and disowning him for coming out five years earlier. A family friend called to try and guilt 'her' that it was a sign 'she' should detransition and 'make peace' with the rest of 'her' family. He told them to fuck off, but it was still hard on him.

Wtf that is messed up.

My friend had a really hard time when he was transitioning, but thankfully his immediate family came around and now accept him completely. He lost a lot of extended family and friends, and will sometimes talk about how he still gets letters addressed to his old name and talking about how this is the devil's work and how he needs to come back to God and his "true self" (aka, being female). Ugh.
