This is kind of a tangent and not intended as a real comment on demisexuality, but one's perception of someone's personality and one's emotional attachment to someone definitely affects/distorts one's perception of that person's physical attractiveness, and that's pretty standard for most people. There have been studies.

That said, I would expect most people who experience sexual attraction at all are *capable* of experiencing sexual attraction towards someone they've seen but haven't met, and then their level of attraction might go up or down upon actually interacting with that person.
