Re: Actual serious question: With trigger warnings for potential racism,so you know it's serious.

Well they're both pretty messed up?

But for a white person who wants to kill black people they are more likely the product of systematic and indoctrinated HATRED, and probably don't have much/any contact with black people in real life but manage to blame them for society's ills because you know how "those people" are, right? (That's how American society has been set up for quite some time, so it's not that hard to imagine... There have been changes for the better but not everywhere and not all the time.)

A black person who expresses the wish that they could kill white people is more likely to have a lot of contact with white people in daily life (because all-black society is difficult to find and maintain on a daily basis or in a life) and are probably speaking from a place of personal pain. Like, maybe they just hate white people and blame them for everything (TBH sometimes I hate white people and I am one...but I don't want to kill them either, just wish more of us would pull our heads out of our asses about racism), but most likely they're speaking from a place of pain and injury...they've been hurt very badly, likely by a number of white people, and are lashing out at the end of their emotional rope.

Still not cool if they actually go out and do it but you really can't compare "blame black people for everythign and wanting to exterminate them" and "blaming white people because a lot of them have fucked me over." It's very, very VERY different and it's pretty fucked up to say they are the same.

In the same way, I'd be more likely to give the benefit of the doubt to a woman who says she "hates men and wishes they were dead" than a man who says he "hates woman and wishes they were dead." It's pretty extreme and not a healthy sentiment; it would definitely be wrong to murder someone for their gender. But gendered violence is a pretty big deal and it exists on a far, FAR greater spectrum from men towards women. If a woman says something like this, I'm more likely to give her the benefit of the doubt that she's not a psychopath and has experienced enough abuse to sour her (at least for now, maybe forever) on men. If a man says this, it's possible he was abused and is speaking out of a place of pain...men can certainly be abused...but I'd be far more likely to think "serial kill omg."

Let's be honest, who is more likely to commit gendered violence. I'm waiting.

And who is more likely to commit hate crimes based on race. Still...waiting.

(Disclaimer that murder is never okay and killing fantasies are by their nature pretty creepy too.)
