Make Fantine a trans woman raising her daughter after her wife left her when she transitioned. Les Mis is already SJW The Musical, so I feel there's a lot of room to play with the concept and keep the messages.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-29 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)If you don't know, it was a production of Les Mis in Dallas (obvs) that gained notoriety because it had an almost entirely POC cast and was set pseudo modern (they blended the aesthetics of several modern revolutionary periods). Not everyone was into it cause not everyone can deal with setting changes, but I got to see it live and I thought it was incredible. There is a bootleg floating around if you can find it.
