First of all, ew, that is absolutely disgusting. D:

Second of all it definitely sounds to me like you cooked it long and hot enough to have killed anything that's in it. Additionally freezing kills them (not sure about the exact length of time required, but if you got it frozen and then cooked it that's extra protection). From what I can tell from some cursory research, anisakiasis is normally found in cultures where people eat raw, pickled, or lightly-cooked fish.

Definitely see a doc if you have abdominal pain but I really think you are going to be fine.

Sorry that happened, though. Again: EW. (I find animal parasites fascinating but I do NOT want them in my mouth!!!)

Well, technically the freezer should be at -4ºF and the fish frozen for something like a week. Most freezers at home freeze at 0 though it's possible the store's freezers are at optimal temperature for killing parasites and their larvae.

I do eat sushi from time but it's been a few weeks since my last restaurant visit, so if something happened, I could definitely blame the cod.

And yeah, parasites are interesting. I had a fun time dissecting nematodes in school but I really wouldn't want a doc to find one in me D:

Well, freezer notwithstanding, it was still cooked at a high temperature, higher than the minimum requirement for killing them afaik
