"Overcoming the Monster", especially if it's combined with "Voyage and Return" or "The Quest".

Voyage & Return is definitely my favorite. I'm especially a sucker for Orpheus variations.

Mine is either Overcoming the Monster (Harry Potter, War of the Worlds, Dracula) or The Quest (Watership Down, LOTR, The Land Before Time).
