Re: Why are babysitters so expensive?

[personal profile] meredith44 2017-01-31 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
I am a preschool teacher, and I babysit regularly for my old kids. I generally get $15 an hour. One family has me one night a month for 6 hours, so they are paying me $90 a month for one night out. To them it is worth it, because their kid literally counts down the time until I show up, I bring things for us to do, I'm constantly engaging him, and I'm an adult who is more responsible than a teen. However, that $90 is definitely expensive, especially on top of the cost of the actual going out.
