You think Sangwoo taking a sledgehammer to Yoonbum's ankles was titillating? also what in the world about Yoonbum is titillating at all? he's like Gollum. Sangwoo abusing him isn't sexy at all, or you'd have lingering shots of Yoonbum's bubble butt and other random glamor shots as he's tied up and blushing. Yoonbum's abuse is not remotely comparable to sexy, abused women.

The point is, you're trying to negate the argument that it's a psychological thriller on the grounds of it being marketed as BL, and therefore is only meant to be sexy and not a genuine horror/thriller. You're arguing that by featuring a same-sex couple, the only thing it can possibly be is titillating and fujoshi bait.

Oh no, if writing wasn't super mediocre, and the characters weren't cliche archetypes, then I would not be making this argument. But they are, so I am. If this wasn't m/m, then the fanbase would be pretty nonexistent since similar horror het content (that definitely has more complexity), does not garner nearly as much attention.

The author is obviously trying to appeal to fujoshi based on the way she's writing things. If she wrote things differently, then I would not be saying this. Also, your argument that Yoonbum isn't sexy is a stupid one. Fujoshi have been shown to latch onto ""ugly"" male characters many times before.

Pretty sure it gets noticed for its M/M content because that kind of stuff doesn't exist elsewhere (whereas there's tons of torture porn with het characters)??

You literally just invalidated your own argument.

How do you figure that mediocre writing and flat characters somehow make a certain media not a genre? It's psychological horror whether or not you like it, period.

There is an entire chapter dedicated to Yoonbum debating whether or not to try to escape when Sangwoo is away, complete with hallucinations about Sangwoo murdering him (by the way, in a not-sexy way). Literally, it's panel after panel of Yoonbum freaking out and trying to garner the courage to leave. That is by definition psychological. In fact, most of the story is this: Yoonbum's psyche, hallucinations, and fear of Sangwoo. You cannot objectively say "it's not psychological, it's only porn" when that's not what the numbers say. There's also several chapters dedicated to the police officer, which gives it a foot in the crime genre.

Fujoshi are going to be interested in a story about two young guys with sexual tension no matter what - and that's okay. It's okay to like something because of sexual tension, and it's okay to be interested in KS because there's a dark, messed up, (semi-)sexual relationship going on. That doesn't mean everyone is wanking to it (I'm sure not), sometimes people like those things because they are morbidly fascinating, and it if happens to hit their aesthetic preferences, great. But what you seem to be refusing to connect is that even though there's people interested in it for BL, it's still first a psychological horror.

I'm not really getting how you're saying, by the way, the author is writing it in a fujo-bait kind of way and purposefully titillating. I think you and I must have very different ideas of what titillating means, because this comic is definitely not that.

I think you should read DA's reply below. They said it better than I could.

Look, you can call KS whatever you want, but I'm pretty sure its trashy BL status trumps the whole ~psychological horror~ aspect. As DA said, it's a bit lacking in the plot department, and there are routes the author could have taken in order to give it more of a plot/delve into characters more rather than having the whole thing be monopolized by Sangwoo abusing Bum in various ways.

Maybe you're in denial, but, for the most part, non-fujos and non-BL fans ain't gonna read this shit because there is simply better written psychological horror manga out there.

Until you explain how its primary function is to be titillating and sexy despite the minimal sexual content and why you feel the 95% of the series which focuses on psychological horror should be completely disregarded, it feels safew to say you just have a bone to pick with the series and aren't actually interested in categorizing iylt.
