FF7: Okay so we've got this plot about saving the Earth, great, and a girl who will provide the means to stop the end of the world, nice, and her death will be tragic and there'll be a lot of weird bullshit about amnesia and things will go completely off rails, we'll make 500 billion dollars, and I'll drown myself in a hot tub of margaritas

FF8: Man, who even fucking knows, going to the moon, something about time compression, more time travel, something something, something, 500 billion more dollars

(stopped playing Final Fantasy after this, generally, so got nothing for 9 onwards)

Xenogears: AMNESIA AGAIN, standard fighting evil plot, then some Ewoks show up and you have to fight God and everything goes right to fucking hell

Kingdom Hearts: A fun game with a plot about hearts and caring for people with Disney, playing right towards the intended audience of younger kids, using classic disney plottery so I cannot hate on it for that

Kingdom Hearts 2: A game attempting to appeal to the incidental huge audience that Kingdom Hearts picked up. The organization is a HUGE THREAT; here they are for five seconds, Maleficent is brought back to life, does nothing but eat cookies and milk all game. Roxas is IMPORTANT WE SWEAR, which is why he's in the game for a full TWO HOURS, FIFTY BILLION ANSEMS, SOMETHING ABOUT HEARTS, oh boy the HUGE THREAT OF THE ORGANIZATION which was absent all game reappears in the LAST TWO HOURS, some even get as much exciting development and dialog as 'Shall we skip the formalities?' then die! Hearts, hearts, something more about hearts, hearts, hearts, okay done.

Man, I cannot be affording all that Final Fantasy, money or time-wise. And after being battered stupid by Squenix trying to tug on my nostalgia strings almost as hard as Capcom with Mega Man, I just plain jumped ship to the Shin Megami Tensei series.

All I know is that I've heard I'd actually probably be pretty fond of FF9, and that FF12 continues the grand Final Fantasy tradition of 'Only one black person on the entire planet has ever or ever will exist'.

I take a Megaten game over a Squeenix game every day of the week too! (I need some Nocturne icons...)

Final Fantasy 9 is my favorite of them (next to FF 8, but that only ranks so highly because it was my first). The characters are likable and the graphic reminds of good old SNES games.
I would summarize FF 9 as shit happens, people die. FF 10 was, to me, pretty graphics and Yuna is fucking annoying. And yeah, FF 12 is basically pretty characters + nice graphics and battle system, but that's all there is to it already. (The deal with FF X-2 is that you don't talk about FF X-2)

Thank god Atlus is reprinting Nocturne. I managed to get my copy months ago for 27 bucks, because it was a store that generally sells music, and they don't know how to price video games.

I thought FF X-2, despite not playing an FF since 7 (Not including Tactics Advance) would be a good change in the series, to allow focus on female characters for once, and take things in a new direction.

Then, hey, I saw clips of the massage mini-game and wanted to punch everyone in the dick. Final Fantasy 13's Lightning being Girl Cloud Strife doesn't alight new hopes in me either.

Square's grasp of black people: There's about 5 of 'em, total! Also, according to Kingdom Hearts, if Sora, Kairi, and Riku's Whitey McCrackerness is any indication, people living on tropical islands don't tan.

I have no idea how I got the game so early and relatively cheap, considering what kind of a release-hell it is here.

I kind of like FF X-2. It has great music and redeemed OMG MUST HELP EVERYONE-Yuna in my eyes. Oh, and pretty costumes. And Happy End. I remember playing that mini-game with music off because otherwise I would have headdesked myself into a coma. (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is awesome. It's story still manages to shake me a bit every time I play it.)

I saw one of the trailers, and Girl Cloud, and red-emo-eyes guy killed it for me already. I feel my fear that they only go for graphics and not for characters/storyline anymore already confirmed. It's sad, because Final Fantasy maybe wasn't the best of the best, but for me it was always about memorable characters and plots.

LOL, I never thought about that. Maybe they make super special sun-blocker out of papu fruits...?
