... Are you me? seriously, I've made this argument so many goddamn times and no one listened to me! Heck, I have two otherwise excellent theorizer friends who nonetheless worship KHII becuase they played it first and like it better soley becuase it's "darker and gritter". They claim that KHI wasn't deep enough.

EXCUSE ME WTF. KHI was plenty damn deep. The ending absolutely floored me. Hollow Bastion was beautiful and amazing; the plot stuff which happened there was revelation after wonderful revelation; and they raped it in II. What happened to my crazy upward flowing waterfalls and crystal-operated lifts and nutcase art noveau castle?! It got replaced by Generic Village #783, that's what ;_; and the music wasfajdlfjad AUGH.

I did ENJOY KHII, by the way; it was a fun game to play. I especially loved how the gummi ships did not suck anymore and were more like playing Starfox 64 without Slippy and with customizable ships.

It's just that... the plot and utter, UTTER waste of the Organization as characters made me want to fly over to Shibuya, drop to my knees in front of the Squeenix building and yell KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN. Or rather NOMURAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

You want a game that captures what KHII should have been? Play It's A Wonderful World. x_X; I'm not even kidding. If they'd written KHII like they wrote WEWY it would have been so good as to make heads asplode with awesome.

... so much more I could rant on. The theories about the BHK! SO MANY OF THEM. AND HOW IT WAS GOING TO BE HIS STORY. And what do we get? Two hours of him. During which there is ONE BOSSFIGHT of actual Dual Wielding. I WANT THOSE FOUR YEARS OF WAITING BACK, SQUARE.

Uh, WHAT? Did we play the same game? Dark forces were manipulating everyone who was manipulating everyone else. I agree with you; Hollow Bastion was a gorgeous level even without all the plot; it was FUN. The worlds in II were a CHORE to get through, especially with the butchered canon and disgustingly angsty Disney characters. Hollow Bastion was amazing. Absolutely incredible. I still get chills when "Riku" reveals himself as Ansem, I still shake with adrenalin when they fight, I still gasp when Sora sacrifices himself. II...when you had to revisit the worlds, I nearly hurled my controller at the screen. "Fuck, AGAIN?!"
I hated the worlds, I hated how the Disney characters got raped with Japanese/Squeenix trademark angst, I was really bad at the gummi ships but it was more interesting, but I loved the visuals, and DAMN if I don't like real!Ansem, and I do love how the Destiny trio was pulled off and reunited. Because like I said in the secret, I STILL cry. That scene almost embodies everything I wanted in II.
The plot...made no sense. It had about fifty different directions it could have taken, and in the end didn't really go anywhere. jdslfhgsjdkf SO FUCKING STUPID.

The World Ends With You? I haven't even considered playing it. Squeenix has disgusted me so much with its milking of its better franchises that I've given up in cynicism. But if we have similar views on II, I might try it out.
