I totally understand people who want to see more people lime them in media, even though I'm like you in that I don't that connection to relate to characters. I get why people crave it.

What I've never understood are people who are like "cishet relationships? BO-RING!!" Especially if they then go on to say they don't want the thing that makes them under-represented to be part of the plot. It's one thing to want to see more people lime you, it's another to pretend like the value of a story arc is less just because it's happening to a majority member.
