YMMV, but for me representation doesn't actually have a lot to do with my enjoyment of media. I believe representation is WILDLY important, both based on my own experiences of occasionally seeing people like me on TV (Gay People, in my case) and based on my reading, the scholarship on this topic, etc. The representation factor itself doesn't necessarily correlate to my enjoyment of/interest in a show (or movie, or book, etc.)--but that doesn't make it any less important to me.
