Motivation - what do you use?

(Anonymous) 2017-02-01 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
For me I just have to make a time table and willpower my way to sticking to it. If I wait for the "mood" to strike me or whatever I'll never get anything done. But I've seen some people say they print out motivational posters to hang up around their house as a reminder, or set alarms, or certain music?

Right now, studying for the bar. And if I don't feel like studying, what I've taken to doing is running a hot bubble bath and then taking flash cards in with me and studying in the tub.

I just use a reward system. "Do an hour of this work, get 30 minutes of playing a video game!"

My motivational method is essentially "you will feel so much better after you work for x hours than you would after you fucked around for x hours"

I break things up into the largest number of smallest possible tasks that I can and treat completing each one as an accomplishment no matter how easy it was. Keeps motivation up pretty well for me.

It also helps that I tend to find it funny how absurdly far I go in breaking things up into tiny steps and get kind of tongue-in-cheek ("Okay, wrote my name at the top. I'm making progress!"), and it keeps me in a good mood.
