I'm in the same boat as you. I grew up with the original trilogy (like so many others) and love it dearly, and watching it feels very warm and comfortable, but Rogue One got to me in a way that neither they nor any of the other films ever did. Like, I've gotten super into the universe and started writing fic because of it.

Feels really sacrilegious to admit, though.
