As an Aussie I see 'cussing' as a kiddie word for swearing. We just swear straight up and often. No cursing or cussing here. If anything cursing sounds like you're putting a curse on someone rather than using strong language.

That's not what the secret means. They mean swear as a noun. Like, "Don't use a swear in front of the baby!"

Replace that with curse and it sounds just as childish. Remove "use a" and both sentences are less so.
