Lol that was my thought during the whole scene. Like man, this kid really is destroying the homes and probably burning to death countless animals.

Plus, I love tigers so I hate Shere Khan as a bad guy purely for that reason. They're endangered man, let him live! Plus as I recall in the original cartoon, Shere Khan was just chased away, not killed.

Overall, it was a pretty good movie though imo

To be fair, in countries like India where the book/movie is set, tigers kill quite a few people every year:

To humans who've lost loved ones, I can see why a tiger might be a natural villain.

Tigers were also not endangered when Kipling first wrote the book, I imagine. I don't think the endangered system had even been set up then.

In the book, Mowgli got a herd of water buffalo or something to stampede over Sher Khan, then skinned him and wore it...

I mean, it's not like he fucking meant to and given it was a reaction to everything Shere Khan did. Shere Khan was going to kill a baby simply because he was human. Mowgli and his dad didn't even fucking do anything, it was Shere Khan who initiated--and kept doing so over and over. He killed the wolf leader brutally to force Mowgli to come back.

But no, no, the tiger who gave zero fucks about anything beyond "you escaped me before and that hurts my pride" was right.

He was mad because the human scarred him. The tiger is a predator and that was his home. Do you think the wolves Mowgli was raised with were vegetarians?
