Yeah, I walk everywhere all the time, and I can't break in cheap shoes because they end up breaking me first. Almost all my clothes are secondhand except shoes, socks, bras (also nice to spend a bit more on, especially if you're an odd size, I'm a 34F and finding bras that really fit was fucking revelatory) and underwear, but the only clothes I've ever spend more than $300 are shoes. Although even that's rare because I check ebay a lot.
