Honestly OP, I'd just chalk it up to Pete's personality. He's made crush-like comments about nearly every male musician they worked with prehiatus. He very much knew what he was doing fueling certain rumors back then. Just look at all the stuff he pulled during that Warped Tour with MCR. 'Stage gay' was a big thing back in the early 00s.
